Describe an interesting house you have visited.

Topic: Describe an interesting house you have visited.

Outline:
1. Talk about the home you visited – whose house it is and where it is.
2. Describe in detail the surroundings of the house and the interior decoration of the house.
3. Describe what made the house interesting.

A few years ago, my family and I went camping in the Spottis Isles. We chose to camp out on an island owned by an artist because of the many attractions there, like the coral reefs and the wildlife. Little did we realize that one of the most interesting attractions would be the artist’s home itself. To our delight, we discovered that the artist’s house was built on the top of four guava trees. The walls were made of bamboo and the roof was lined with coconut palms. Shrubs and flowers hung from the roof.

Under the house was a well, a vegetable garden and many fruit trees heavily laden with fruits. When we heard that we were invited to the house for dinner, we were thrilled. We had to climb a narrow ladder to reach the entrance where we were greeted by the artist himself. The house was lit by oil lamps which gave it a cozy look. The place was filled with indoor plants. The pictures and the art work on the walls were painted or made by the artist himself. All the furniture was hand-made too.

His quaint little kitchen was lined with cabinets made of unpolished wood. He usually does his cooking in the open air where he builds a small camp-fire.

The artist used the house during the months of May and June every year, to get away from the noise and pollution of our modern world. Being on the island, he could really enjoy nature. Modern appliances were distinctly absent in his house. Only the rustle of leaves, the calls of wild animals and the splashing of waves on the beach could be heard.

It was the most interesting house I have ever visited. I wish I could own such an ideal house myself in the future.
